Behavioral Health Services of DuBois Regional Medical Center provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care. Staffed by psychiatrists, psychologists and clinical social workers, the program offers psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychological assessment, and individual and family psychotherapy to seniors, adults, adolescents and children.

Scott Turkin, MD has been a staff psychiatrist with DRMC since 1997 and the Medical Director for Behavioral Health since 2001. He is a board certified psychiatrist and was elected a Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association. In 2003 he became a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the same year founded the DRMC Psychiatric Research Department which has participated in over 10 clinical trials to date. He was elected to be a member of the Board of Councilors of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders from 2005-2007. He has been an examiner for the Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, helping to decide who becomes board certified in his specialty. He also served as a reviewer for the journal Bipolar Disorders. He prides himself on treating the full gamut of psychiatric disorders, with special interest in mood and thought disorders, in which he has been a co-author in peer-reviewed scientific publications. He also has much interest in holistic and complementary medicine and was trained extensively in California and China in acupuncture. Other intersts include meditation and mindfulness therapy as well as the role of exercise in treating psychiatric disorders. Dr. Turkin has served on several hospital committees including the QMT committee since 2001 and the P&T committee, which he chairs.

Dr. Raja Sohail Abbas Born and raised in Pakistan, Dr. Abbas completed his medical schooling at Rawalpindi Medical College, Pakistan. Dr. Abbas came to the US in 2002 and did a year of research at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. There, he realized that he was more interested in Psychiatry and ended up completing a dual residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at West Virginia University, Charleston division. Dr. Abbas then went to the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the Univ. of Pittsburgh where he completed a fellowship in Geriatric psychiatry. The experience there included clinics at the Benedum Geriatric center at Montefiore hospital, inpatient work on the 40 bed Gero-psych unit at WPIC and rotations at the 3 VA hospitals in and around Pittsburgh. Dr. Abbas is board eligible in Internal Medicine, Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. He is the medical director of the Senior Transitions Unit at Brookville hospital and has an outpatient practice at DRMC east. Dr. Abbas' interests include Geriatric depression, the interface of medical and psychiatric illnesses in the elderly and Geriatric psychopharmacology.

Dr. Hamayun N. Ahmed Dr. Ahmed received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Rutgers University and his degree in medicine from Ross University School of Medicine. He did his residency in general psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. Before coming DRMC, Dr. Ahmed worked in Jersey City, N.J. He was also an assistant professor in the department of psychology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in East Orange, N.J. Dr. Ahmed is a member of the board of the American Board of Medical Specialities and a diplomat of the American Board of Psychology and Neurology. He received the Golden Apple Teaching Excellence Award from the New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Ahmed also published work entitled, “Antipsychotic treatment on obesity and metabolism in schizophrenia.” Dr. Ahmed is certified in treating disorders in adults, such as depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, through diagnostic evaluation and psychotherapy.

Dr. Bohdan N. Hrecznyj Dr. Hrecznyj received his bachelor’s degree in Biochemsitry from Oakland University in Rochester, MI, and his degree in medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. He did his internship in psychiatry at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL and his residency in psychiatry at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He also completed his general and child psychiatry residency at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh. Dr. Hrecznyj is board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychology and Neurology. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Paul F. Ignatius Dr. Ignatius received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Davidson College in Davidson, NC, and completed his graduate program work in molecular pharmacology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He received his degree in medicine from American University of the Caribbean, St. Maarten, N.A. He did his residency in psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, N.J. Dr. Ignatius enjoys golf, playing the guitar, weight-lifting, live music, reading and writing poetry.



Edgar Gantalao, MD joined the DRMC Behavioral Health staff in 2002. Dr. Gantalao attended Medical School at the West Visayas State University College of Medicine at Iloilo City, Philippines. He completed his General Psychiatry Residency at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine (1997 - 2000). Dr. Gantalao also completed a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine (2000 - 2002) . He was the Chief Resident in the program in the (2001-2002) training year. Dr. Gantalao specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents.

Psychologists
John W. Lobb, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist who has been employed at the DuBois Regional Medical Center since 1981. Dr. Lobb earned a Bachelor's Degree in Individual and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University, a Masters Degree in Counseling from Slippery Rock State University, and a Doctoral Degree in Health Psychology from Walden University. Dr. Lobb is the supervisor of DRMC's Behavioral Health Center and provides assessment and therapy services to children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults. His areas of interest include mood and anxiety disorders, health-related concerns, family conflicts, and substance abuse problems.

Matthew W. Bridgman, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist who joined the Behavioral Health Staff in October of 2010. He completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Messiah College in Grantham PA, and Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at Fuller Seminary’s Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, California. He also completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA prior to coming to DRMC. Dr. Bridgman provides neuropsychological assessment for adults and the elderly through the Behavioral Health and Neurology Clinics at DRMC. Particular areas of interest include the assessment of individuals with suspected dementia and assessment of cognitive dysfunction secondary to psychiatric and medical illnesses. He also provides therapy services to adults and the elderly dealing with issues such as mood/anxiety disorders and health-related adjustment difficulty.

Physician Assistants
Heather Meyers, PA-C, MHS joined the Behavioral Health staff at DRMC in July of 2007. She was born and raised in Bellefonte, Pa then attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania where she obtained her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Science in 2005. She continued her education at Lock Haven University and earned her Master’s degree in Health Science- physician assistant in 2007. Heather is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants. She sees patients in the Behavioral Health Adult inpatient unit and the outpatient departments as well as the DRMC Psychiatric Research Department.

Dawn Burns, MPAS, PA-C, joined the Behavioral Health Staff at DRMC in June of 2008. She was born and raised in DuBois, PA. She attended Saint Francis University, in Loretto, PA where she obtained a Bachelor of Health Science in 2007. She continued her education by pursuing her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Sciences through the fast-track program, which was completed in May 2008. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants. Her primary focus through DRMC is in the Child and Adolescent outpatient department. She is also seeing patients of all ages at Dickinson Mental Health Center in Ridgway, PA for outpatient services.

Licensed Clinical Social Workers
Mark Stoltz, LCSW has a Master's Degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh. He moved to DuBois in 1993. Prior to that time Mark was engaged in Private practice in Steubenville, OH. Mark has been employed by DRMC's Behavioral Health Department since 1998. He is available for individual, marital and family therapy. Mark has a particular interest in receiving referrals from those seeking Christian counseling.



James Brem, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who attended college at the University of Pittsburgh (Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Social Work). Jim joined DRMC's Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Center team in 2004. Prior to this opportunity, Jim worked with both children and adults at Dickinson Mental Health Center in Ridgway. Jim has experience practicing both individual and family therapy.

Licensed Professional Counselors
David M. Kosko M.A-L.P.C; C.A.C. is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Addictions Counselor. He is a graduate of Penn State University and Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Dave jpined DRMC's Inpatient Adolescent Behavioral Health Program in December 1994 and began working part-time at the Behavioral Health Center in July 1995. Prior to this Dave was employed for 17 years as a Mental Health Counselor for Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries in Clearfield, PA. In February 2005 Dave will enter his 30th year in the counseling profession. He works both with children, adolescents and adults, with a special interest in family therapy, chemical dependence issues and issues of the families of the chemically dependent.

Seema Chaubey , MA , LPC joined the Behavioral Health Outpatient Department on April 13, 2006 as a licensed professional counselor. She Relocated to DuBois in November of 2005 with her husband. Seema w as born and raised in India and received a Bachelor's degree in English Literature with minor in Psychology from Lady Brabourne College in Kolkata, India, a Master in English Literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India and a Master of Arts from Indiana University of PA in Student Affairs in Higher Education from the Counseling Department in 1991. Seema has been a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors since 2002. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2003, with special focus on mood and anxiety disorders for adolescents and adults. Seema's area of interest include individual, family and marital therapy with focus on issues related to mood, anxiety, marriage, parenting, and multiculturism.

Michelle L. Hetrick, M.A., NBCC, LPC joined the outpatient department in August 2007. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) from the Penn State University in 2003. Her master’s degree, completed in 2007, was obtained through Indiana University’s (CACREP) accredited Community Counseling program. Michelle’s education prepared her to work with both adult and adolescent populations. A member of the Behavioral Health Services team since 1996 Michelle has served in many capacities. Since its origination in 2003 Michelle has served as Research Assistant and most recently Research Coordinator for DRMC’s Department of Research, which functions under the direction of Scott Turkin, M.D, Medical Director. Her progress within the department has given her considerable experience with the population we serve. Michelle’s interests include individual, family and couples therapy in both the adult and adolescent population, as well as continued research in the field of behavioral medicine.

Clinical Nurse Specialist
Sherry Murphy, RN, BSN, CNS Sherry obtained a Masters Degree in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing in 1989 and subsequently was certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in this field. After serving almost 23 years in the United States Army Nurse Corps, Sherry retired to her hometown and joined the DRMC Behavioral Health staff in 1995. She has worked both the inpatient and outpatient settings and has been a member of the Behavioral Health Department of Research since 2003. In this capacity she has coordinated research studies with the University of Pittsburgh and multiple pharmaceutical companies. Sherry also is a participant in the Behavioral Health Women’s Initiative and has organized a group for antepartum/postpartum women. Sherry currently is accepting referrals for individual and family therapy.
