ST. MARYS – The doors will open to the St. Marys Community Medical Building on Monday, March 12, according to John Sutika, president of DuBois Regional Medical Center.
The building is located along Million Dollar Highway in front of the Walmart SuperCenter in Fox Township. It is three floors and a basement with a total of 30,000 square feet.
The first floor of the St. Marys Community Medical Building will house outpatient diagnostic services, according to Wendy Vokes, DRMC Imaging director who is director over the ancillary services in the building.
Lab services will be available for walk-in customers with physician orders Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the last patient being taken at registration at 5:30 p.m. Services include blood draws and urinalysis.
X-ray services will also be provided for patients with physician orders. The office will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the last patient registration at 5:30 p.m. Ultrasound will be available by appointment on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursday. Digital mammograms and bone density testing, also known as DEXA scanning, are available by appointment only on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a physician’s order. All appointments for these services can be made by calling 375-INFO or 1-888-920-4636.
Electrocardiograms, or EKGs, will also be done with physician orders on a walk-in basis. The office will be open the same times as x-ray and the lab with the last registration also at 5:30 p.m.
Dr. Shaon Donahue, a family physician, will have her office in the building on the second floor. She will start seeing patients when the building opens. Her office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. “She can provide a range of care with the conveniences of having diagnostic services in the same building, according to Travis Millinder,” DRMC’s assistant vice-president of Practice Management. Her practice will be known as St. Marys Family Health.
Specialists from DRMC will be traveling from DuBois to St. Marys. They will be sharing second floor office space on a scheduled basis. These practices include Endocrinology, Neurology, Pulmonology/Sleep Medicine and Infectious Disease. Other specialities will be announced in the future. Appointments for them can be made through their DuBois’ offices.
DRMC made the decision to build in Fox Township because of the number of DRMC patients from Elk, Cameron and McKean counties. Most use specialities only available in DuBois and having this facility helps patients with access and travel time.
“We are excited to be able to reach out to patients in the north,” Sutika said. “We hope this provides a convenience that will help lead them to better health without the worry of traveling.”
