Scott Turkin, MD has been a staff psychiatrist with DRMC since 1997 and the medical director for behavioral health since 2001. He is a board certified psychiatrist and was elected a fellow in the american psychiatric association. In 2003 he became a clinical asistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of medicine and the same year founded the DRMC psychiatric research department which has participated in over 10 clinical trials to date. He was elected to be a member of the board of councilors of the international aociety for bipolar disorders from 2005-2007. He has been an examiner for the board of psychiatry and neurology, helping to decide who becomes board certified in his specialty. He also served as a reviewer for the journal bipolar disorders. He prides himself on treating the full gamut of psychiatric disorders, with special interest in mood and thought disorders, in which he has been a co-author in peer-reviewed scientific publications. He also has much interest in holistic and complementary medicine and was trained extensively in California and China in acupuncture. Other intersts include meditation and mindfulness therapy as well as the role of exercise in treating psychiatric disorders. Dr. Turkin has served on several hospital committees including the QMT committee since 2001 and the P&T committee, which he chairs.


AhmedDr. Hamayun N. Ahmed received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Rutgers University and his degree in medicine from Ross University School of Medicine. He did his residency in general psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. Before coming DRMC, Dr. Ahmed worked in Jersey City, N.J. He was also an assistant professor in the department of psychology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in East Orange, N.J. Dr. Ahmed is a member of the board of the American Board of Medical Specialities and a diplomat of the American Board of Psychology and Neurology. He received the Golden Apple Teaching Excellence Award from the New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Ahmed also published work entitled, “Antipsychotic treatment on obesity and metabolism in schizophrenia.” Dr. Ahmed is certified in treating disorders in adults, such as depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, through diagnostic evaluation and psychotherapy.


Hrecznyj-2010Dr. Bohdan N. Hrecznyj received his bachelor’s degree in Biochemsitry from Oakland University in Rochester, MI, and his degree in medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. He did his internship in psychiatry at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL and his residency in psychiatry at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He also completed his general and child psychiatry residency at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh. Dr. Hrecznyj is board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychology and Neurology. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.


Ignatius-2010Dr. Paul F. Ignatius received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Davidson College in Davidson, NC, and completed his graduate program work in molecular pharmacology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He received his degree in medicine from American University of the Caribbean, St. Maarten, N.A. He did his residency in psychiatry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, N.J. Dr. Ignatius enjoys golf, playing the guitar, weight-lifting, live music, reading and writing poetry.



egantalaoEdgar Gantalao, MD joined the DRMC Behavioral Health staff in 2002. Dr. Gantalao attended Medical School at the West Visayas State University College of Medicine at Iloilo City, Philippines. He completed his General Psychiatry Residency at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine (1997 - 2000). Dr. Gantalao also completed a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine (2000 - 2002) . He was the Chief Resident in the program in the (2001-2002) training year. Dr. Gantalao specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents.
