Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
When childbirth has a complication and a newborn needs immediate and specialized care, the DRMC NICU is prepared! DRMC is the only hospital in the region prepared and accredited to deliver advanced neonatal care to premature and critically ill newborns. The board certified neonatologists and neonatal nurses respond to emergencies at delivery, and they travel by ambulance or helicopter to transport tiny, critically ill babies to DRMC from outlying hospitals. The DRMC NICU has been delivering “big city” care in a rural setting for over 30 years.
Parents are welcome in the NICU to be with their newborn, and the nurses are always available to help them understand and to involve them in their baby’s care.
