The services of the Diabetes Center are of benefit to those of all ages with newly diagnosed diabetes, uncontrolled diabetes, pregnancy with pre-existing diabetes or gestational diabetes.

Comprehensive Instruction
Diabetes therapy sessions consist of two four-hour sessions taught by registered dietitians and registered nurses. All clinicians are certified diabetes educators. The sessions are offered with morning, afternoon and evening sessions available on a rotating basis. Individual teaching is also available. DRMC is one of the few diabetes self-management programs in the area recognized by the American Diabetes Association. This recognition allows for third party reimbursement by most insurance companies. The center has been recognized since 2000.

Blood Glucose Monitoring
The clinic provides meter training.

Insulin/Insulin Pump
Individual sessions for those starting insulin or insulin pump therapy.

Lending Library
Books, recipes and videos are available on a variety of health prevention/promotion topics. People need not be a patient to use this service.

Nutrition Counseling
Individual sessions are available for disease-specific medical nutrition therapy (i.e. hypertension, elevated triglycerides), weight management and eating disorders.

Health Fairs
The center can provide information to the consumer on good nutrition.

Insurance Coverage
Third party reimbursement is available for diabetes education and some nutrition counseling. This is dependent on patientsí insurance and they need to call the 800 number on their insurance card to know if it is covered. In the event the patients do not have insurance or are concerned about payment, they may contact the business office for assistance.

Diabetes Support
* Diabetes support group meetings are held monthly
